Get to know aboutoverclocking an Nvidia GeForce gtx 1050 ti card
The 4GB GDDR5 memory card was locked at 8008 MHz, and that we couldn’t get over 1911MHz on the core after running some benchmarks and looking at the logs. The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti’s overclocking limitations should also be known to the user.TheMSI overclocking barrier was most likely limiting cards which are usually locked.” Although lower-end cards may be limited, we disagree that the majority of NVIDIA graphics cards are closed.
You can look through the GPU-Z logs and know about how to overclock an Nvidia GeForce gtx 1050 ti card from benchmarking runs and plotted a couple of them for you to see. The only time you can reach over 1900 MHz was when you will be in the game menu or loading the maps or when the GPU load wasn’t 100 per cent.
In Deus Ex, they divided, the average clock speed was 1846 MHz, and in Battlefield 4, it was 1837 MHz, both of which are very respectable considering the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti’s suggested base clock is 1290 MHz on paper.
It is found that the clock speed in Battlefield 4 was only 99 per cent until the very end when it finally reached 100 per cent load for the first time. This made it essential to know how to overclock EVGA gtx 1050 ti. GPU-Z revealed that the card was power restricted when gaming, causing the clock speeds to fluctuate.
This made users curious about the clock speed accuracy on the stock MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4G OC, so you need to know how to overclock Zotac 1050 ti and check it out and discover that the clock speeds were still inconsistent. The average 1724 MHz during the BF4 run above, and it eventually flatlined at 1721 MHz at the end. As a result, the 175 MHz core clock overclock and the average score clock in Battlefield 4 increased by 113 MHz from 1724 MHz to 1837 MHz.
How can you increase the game frame ratesafely with overclocking Nvidia 1050 ti SSC?
- First and foremost, upgrade your RAM to 8GB; this will not explicitly increase your FPS, but it is now a requirement. A Requirement by almost all the popular games
- Update your graphics drivers.
- Connect the laptop to the charger and then play if you want to play at a high frame rate because the graphics and CPU are not at 100% while the computer is in battery mode. As a result of this, when you begin to plug in the charger, the laptop would believe that “the device does not require battery saving.” Depending on your computer, you can expect a 5 per cent boost in inefficiency.
- When playing games, try not to use too many apps at once.
- Since the fans inside laptops sucking air from the back, try to keep the laptop’s bottom as open as possible. As a result, try to play on a desk, as laptop cooling is critical. Thermal throttling (in layman’s terms, reducing output due to heat) will occur if the laptop gets too hot.
- Set your laptop’s power frequency curve to 1960 MHz on core clocks and +700 MHz on memory clocks using MSI afterburner. This should have equivalent frame rates to a 1050ti
- Since games are demanding more and more CPU power, you can undervolt your CPU so you can reach higher clocks for longer.
- Clean your laptop’s fan with compressed air to improve cooling and, as a result, long-term performance.
- To get higher fps, lower pointless game settings like fxaa, softer shadows, lower ambient.
However, you might overclock it and know so far about how to overclock gtx 1050 ti SSC. However, whether or not your motherboard supports overclocking is a matter of personal preference. Look up how to overclock your graphics card on the internet. When it comes to overclocking, each graphics card is unique. To overclock my CPU, I used MSI afterburner. My motherboard, however, does not allow overclocking. But you’ll have to look it up on Google.
How can you extend the life of your GTX 1050 ti?
Step 1: Run the tests
One of the essential things you can do before overclocking is run some tests to see how well your graphics card handles graphics. You must know how to overclock Nvidia 1050 ti SSC to enjoy your games safely. To begin, you’ll need to download a free benchmarking program like Heaven 4.0 benchmark. After you’ve got your benchmarking tool, you’ll need software that can adjust your graphics card’s settings. I suggest MSI Afterburner for this purpose. It is effortless and free software to use.
After you’ve downloaded and installed Afterburner, all you need to do is open it to see all of the information about your graphics card. Open Heaven 4.0 in full-screen mode and make sure you’re playing at the highest settings with 4x Anti-aliasing (AA) to ensure your graphics card is working to its full potential. Press F9 to begin the benchmark. This process will help you to know how to overclock GPU Msi Geforce gtx 1050 ti. It would be best if you waited until the benchmark test is over. Then, during the trial, write down the minimum and average frame rates. Take note of the maximum temperature and frequency of your GPU as well.
Step 2: Make the necessary memory adjustments.
It’s a good idea to overclock your memory before adjusting the clock speed of your graphics card. Make sure Afterburner’s power cap is set to 100 per cent. You can run MSI Afterburner and Heaven in windowed mode to get the best results. This helps you experiment with settings while ensuring that nothing goes wrong and know how to overclock xlr8 GeForce gtx 1050 to 4GB.To begin overclocking your memory, increase the memory’s values in 5-10 MHz increments. This will ensure that everything runs smoothly. You have a higher risk of frying your card if you try to increase the memory too much.
It is essential to note the video for any tears or anomalies in the benchmarking software. These anomalies may indicate that you have overclocked your memory. Keep in mind that you should go slowly and check the video on Heaven every 10 MHz on knowing about how to overclock MSI gtx 1050 ti.
Reduce the memory MHz until there are no more errors once you notice signs of memory failure. Before starting the GPU OC, remember what the memory is clocked at and reduce it to the normal.
Step 3: Overclocking your graphic card
You should repeat the same steps as before, except this time, you’ll adjust the core clock values in 10-MHz increments. Know about how to overclock MSI gtx 1050 ti, and don’t be concerned if anything goes wrong. That means you went a little too far. Reset the Core clock until there are no more problems, then write down the number. Reset it to its default state, and you’re good to go.
Step 4: Combine all the overclocking readings.
It would be best if you were an expert at overclocking your hardware by now. This step is the most crucial of them all. It’s a lot like what you were doing before. First, knowing how to overclock Asus gtx 1050 ti, all you need to do is set your memory and core clock to the previously determined values. Run Heaven, and if it crashes, lower the memory and GPU values by 10 MHz at a time until everything runs smoothly.
Step 5: Know about performance and perform necessary testing
This is the last and most crucial step. After the benchmark appears to be running smoothly, you can leave Heaven running for around 15 minutes to see if your machine can handle the tension.
Make sure you test your latest settings in your favourite games to ensure they run smoothly as well; if there are any issues, lower the settings. You now have the complete knowledge to overclock your GTX 1050 ti or other graphics card.
If the GTX 1050Ti is identical to the GTX 750 Ti, it is hardware limited to 75 watts maximum to the 750 was regulated to 60 watts maximum, ensuring that you don’t use more power than the PCIe bus can handle. So you could get objects or spaz on your screen and know about how to overclock MSI gtx 1050 ti gaming x 4GB manually. Still, aside from potential drive corruption from shutting down inappropriately when something is attempting to write to your drive, you’re very unlikely to harm your device or graphics card. Enter your motherboard’s specifications to see whether it allows overclocking. And there is a lot of software which you can use to overclock your GPU. The limit of GeForce gtx 1050 ti overclock is 1900 MHz. The new i5 paired with the GTX 1060, which consumes more power than the GTX 1050, a 450W power supply is sufficient. The importance of the power supply is greatly exaggerated. Even a 300W power supply will power mid-range graphics cards like the GTX 1050.
You can use the MSI Afterburner Tool to overclock the GTX 1050 Ti OC Edition because it has many options for changing the GPU and memory clock. Overclocking the card is easy, and you will get the frequencies up to a respectable level.
Overclocking: MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4G OC Pushed To The Max
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Overclocking
When the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti came out earlier this week we didn’t have enough time to properly overclock it, but we were impressed by the performance that the stock card had for $140 price point. The MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4G OC graphics card ($139.99) showed that it could easily beat the XFX Radeon RX 460 4GB that also just happens to be priced at $139.99 shipped and it was usually performing close to the EVGA GeForce GTX 960 Super SuperClocked 4GB that was priced at $239 just one year ago. It made us wonder just how much more could we improve performance if we manually overclocked it?
The MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4G base model comes clocked at 1290MHz base with a 1392MHz boost clock speed. The model that we are looking at today is the MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB OC model that comes factory overclocked 1342MHz base with 1455MHz boost clocks. NVIDIA said that you’ll be able to “hit speeds in excess of 1,900MHz with ease” when overclocking the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, so we will be using the MSI Afterburner Utility to see just how far we can push the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.
The first thing we noticed in MSI Afterburner 4.3.0 Beta 14 is that the MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4G OC graphics card unfortunately doesn’t have too many overclocking knobs to turn. For example, there is no core voltage adjustment on this series nor is there the ability to raise the power limit percentage past 100%. NVIDIA says you don’t need any extra voltage to get over 1900MHz on this card and with no external power connectors on the board the voltage controls might have been removed so the card doesn’t use more than 75W of power. The good news is you can manually adjust the core and memory clocks as well as the temperature limit and the fan speed.
We were able to increase our core clock up to +175 MHz and the memory clock to +750 MHz without making any other changes. This increased our base clock from 1342 MHz up to 1517 MHz and the boost clock from 1455 MHz up to 1630 MHz. The memory clock went from 1752 MHz (7008 MHz effective) up to 2127 MHz to 8,508 MHz or so we thought.
After running some benchmarks and looking at the logs we found that our cards 4GB GDDR5 memory was actually locked at 8008 MHz and that we were unable to get over get over 1911MHz on the core. We asked NVIDIA about overclocking limitations on the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and were told that they were looking into it. When we asked MSI USA about the overclocking wall that we were hitting they said that there was most likely a limit placed on the card and followed that up by saying most “All NVIDIA cards are usually locked.” Maybe lower-end cards are limited, but we disagree with the statement that most NVIDIA graphics cards are locked.
We took a look at our GPU-Z logs that we keep during benchmarking runs and charted a couple of them for you to see. The only time we were hitting over 1900 MHz was while we were in the game menu or loading the maps when when the GPU load wasn’t 100%. The average clock speed in Deus Ex: Mankind divided was 1846 MHz and in Battlefield 4 it was 1837 MHz, both of which are very respectable seeing how the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti has a suggested 1290 MHz base clock on paper. In Battlefield 4 we noticed the clock speed was pegged at just 99% until the very end where it hit 100% load for the first time. GPU-Z showed that the card was power limited while gaming, so the clock speeds vary due to this and are not very consistent.
This made us wonder what clock speed consistency looked like on the stock MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4G OC, so we took a look and found that the clock speeds still varied and weren’t consistent. In the run of BF4 above we averaged 1724 MHz and it eventually flat lined at 1721 MHz at the end of the run. So, our 175 MHz overclock on the core clock helped our average core clock in BF4 go from 1724 MHz to 1837 MHz, which is an increase of 113 MHz.
Now that we have the basics out of the way we can take a look at the test system and get to the benchmarks!Questions or comments? View this thread in our forums!
I currently run a EVGA 1050 ti in my gaming rig, and like you I was curious about overclocking to reach the maximum potential of this card. I did a little research and found the fastest, easiest way to overclock your card. This should work for every Nvidia graphics card, so don’t worry if yours is a EVGA, Zotac, MSI etc. This will work for all of them!
Step 1: How Much can it handle?
One of the most important things you need to do before any overclocking is to go through a few tests to see how your card is handling graphics. To begin this process you will need to get a free bench marking software such as Heaven 4.0 benchmark.
Once you have your bench marking tool you will need a software that is capable of tweaking your graphics cards settings. For this I recommend downloading MSI Afterburner. It is a very easy to use and free program!
Once you have downloaded and installed Afterburner, open it and you will be able to see all the information about your gpu.
Open up Heaven 4.0 in full screen, make sure you are running it at the resolution you game on and the highest settings with 4x Anti-aliasing (AA) to make sure your graphics card is running at its max. To start the benchmark, simple press F9.
Wait for the benchmark test to be complete. Then write down the minimum and average frame rates you got during the test. Also take note of your GPU’s maximum temperature and frequency.
Step 2: Take It Slow
Before you start changing your graphics cards clock speed, it is beneficial to first over clock your memory. Make sure the power limit in Afterburner is set to 100%.
For this to work best you will want to open up MSI Afterburner and Heaven in windowed mode. This allows you to tweak settings while making sure nothing crashes.
To begin overclocking your memory you want to increase the values of the memory in 5-10 MHz intervals. This will keep everything running safely. If you try to increase the memory too much you have a greater chance of frying your card.
Make sure to keep an eye on the bench marking program for any tears, or abnormalities in the video. These abnormalities may be signs that you have over clocked your memory too much. Remember you want to be going slow and check the video on Heaven every 10 MHz.
Once you start seeing signs of the memory failing, reduce the memory MHz down a bit until there are no more flaws. Remember what then memory is clocked at and reduce it back down to the default before starting the GPU OC.
Step 3: Its finally Time to OC Your GPU!
You are going to follow the exact same steps as before but now you are changing the core clock values in intervals of 10 MHz. Once again, find where you start to see the video in Heaven show signs of abnormalities. Don’t worry if something crashes! All that means is that you went a little too far. Dial back the Core clock until there is no more issues then remember that number. Reset it back to the default, and now you are ready to combine both the memory and GPU overclock.
If you are having any issues feel free to reference the video below!
Step 4: Combing Both OC Values
By this point you should be a pro at overclocking your hardware. This step is the most crucial of them all. It is very similar to what you were doing before. You will want to first set your memory and core clock to the values previously found. Run Heaven, if everything crashes then bring down the value of both memory and gpu 10 MHz each time until you find that everything is running smoothly!
Step 5: Game / Stress Testing
This is the final Step! Once everything seems to be running smoothly during the benchmark, you should leave Heaven running for about 15 minutes just to see if your system can handle the stress.
Make sure you also test out your new settings in your favorite games to make sure they are running smoothly as well, if there are any problems once again just tweak the settings a bit lower.
You now know how to overclock your GTX 1050 ti or other graphics card! Hopefully this guide helped you reach higher fps’ in your games. Make sure you check out our other How To’s and Reviews! If you have any questions leave a comment down below our head over to our contact page.
