Oct 17Ambarella: Even With Restrictions In China, I Buy Its Face Recognition Algorithms
Ambarella develops low-power system-on-a-chip semiconductors that are used for artificial intelligence processing of images and videos. The company’s systems offer computer vision algorithms, object detection, terrain mapping, and face recognition. The company’s technology is usually connected to data centers in the cloud. If the company designs and manufactures a new CVflow-architecture, which exactly matches the needs of clients, I would expect demand for AMBA’s products. Assuming that in the next five years, AMBA will deliver new and innovative solutions, I developed my own DCF model. My figures include a decline in sales growth from 45% in 2022 to 20% in 2026. The EBITDA margin would increase from 21% in 2022 to 27% in 2026. I also take into account that AMBA could penetrate new markets such as the automotive OEM and robotics markets. The company appears to be increasing its R&D expenditures in these new markets.
Ambarella Takes Off In More Ways Than One
AMBA appreciated by almost a third after the latest report, showing how much can change in just one week. The stock had been oscillating for months, but a couple of factors combined to make the stock pop the way it did. AMBA was already trading at high multiples before the latest moves, but multiples have gotten even higher since then. The bulls have a lot in their favor, but that does not mean everyone is likely to get on board regardless.

At the center of everything we do is a strong commitment to independent research and sharing its profitable discoveries with investors. This dedication to giving investors a trading advantage led to the creation of our proven Zacks Rank stock-rating system. Since 1988 it has more than doubled the S&P 500 with an average gain of +25.35% per year. These returns cover a period from January 1, 1988 through October 4, 2021. Zacks Rank stock-rating system returns are computed monthly based on the beginning of the month and end of the month Zacks Rank stock prices plus any dividends received during that particular month. A simple, equally-weighted average return of all Zacks Rank stocks is calculated to determine the monthly return. The monthly returns are then compounded to arrive at the annual return. Only Zacks Rank stocks included in Zacks hypothetical portfolios at the beginning of each month are included in the return calculations. Zacks Ranks stocks can, and often do, change throughout the month. Certain Zacks Rank stocks for which no month-end price was available, pricing information was not collected, or for certain other reasons have been excluded from these return calculations.
