Construction trailer destroyed in fire on UK’s campus. Research building unaffected

A fire Sunday morning caused major damage to a construction trailer on the University of Kentucky’s campus, according to the Lexington Fire Department and UK officials. The fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Leader Avenue, which is near University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. There was a lot of fire coming from the roof of the building when firefighters got on scene, Battalion Chief Jordan Saas said. The scene was upgraded to an active structure fire.

One killed, two injured in head on collision

A young woman was killed and two children injured, one critically, in a head-on collision Friday morning on Long Lick Pike. Kristin Charron, 28, was killed when the car she was driving collided with a dually truck driven by Steven Ketterer of Stamping Ground. Two children, each 9 years ago, were in the backseat of Charron’s car, said Eddie Hart of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. One of the children is in critical condition. WINCHESTER, Ind. (WISH) — A driver died in a crash with a semitractor Wednesday afternoon west of Winchester, the Randolph County sheriff said in a news release Wednesday night.

The Randolph County E911 Center about 1 p.m. Wednesday received a report of an unknown type of crash on State Road 32 at County Road 500, about 4 miles west of Winchester.

A 2009 Honda four-door was driving south on County Road 500 West and failed to stop at State Road 32, said Sheriff Art L. Moystner in the news release. The car struck the 2022 Kenworth semi. Charles Gross, 66, of Rolling Prairie, was driving west on State Road 32 when hit the semi was hit on the passenger side by the Honda. Gross was not hurt in the crash.

The driver of the Honda was not immediately named pending a positive identification. The Randolph County coroner said the driver died at the scene.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office had not completed its investigation of the crash Wednesday night.

State Road 32 was closed for several hours after the crash, Indiana Department of Transportation reported.

Hemet man ID’d after fatal head-on crash on Winchester Road

MURRIETA, Calif., — Although no details have been released as to how a fatal, head-on traffic collision occurred in Murrieta yesterday afternoon, Thursday, Aug. 12, officials today identified the driver who was killed in the accident. The deadly collision, which forced the hours-long closure of Winchester Road, happened just south of Briggs Road, according to officials.

City of Murrieta police and fire personnel were dispatched to the scene around 2:21 p.m., according to a Murrieta PD social media release and subsequent coroner’s release of information.

When officials arrived they found a white Chevy Camaro and grey Honda sedan with major front-end damage. Vehicle parts and debris were scattered across the roadway, leaving most of Winchester Road impassable.

Despite life-saving efforts, one of those involved in the accident succumbed to his injuries and passed away about twenty minutes after the collision occurred according to fire officials who later wrote, “Unfortunately, one person passed away due to injuries sustained in the accident.”

The other driver suffered moderate injuries, according to a CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire social media release.

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified Raymond Ayala, 48, of Hemet, as the man who died in the collision. A coroner’s release indicated he was pronounced deceased at the scene of yesterday’s accident at 2:43 p.m.

Officials who worked at the location for several hours during their initial on-scene investigation and subsequent collision clean-up efforts called for the temporary closure of Winchester Road between Benton and Auld roads. Traffic was diverted away from the crash scene onto other area roads, with commuters and area residents reporting significant delays in travel times. The road has since been re-opened.

Murrieta PD’s accident investigation is continuing and officials have not released any further details regarding the fatal collision.
