Need a fantasy football cheat sheet? Behold Fantasy Alarm's 2016 draft guide
Welcome to a sneak peek at the 2016 Fantasy Football Online Draft Guide from Fantasy Alarm.
I’ve spent the last decade of my life writing fantasy football draft guides. It’s something that I really love doing; putting in all of that research and hard work, then being able to casually take the family to the store and happen upon my magazine on the newsstand.
The problem with all of the draft guides you see in the stores or even online these days, is that they are packed with out-of-date material. Let’s face it, those rankings and articles are written in May and published in June. Meanwhile, you are reading them in August and wondering why the receiver who just tore his ACL is still referenced as a sleeper.
The fact is that a magazine draft guide is an archaic way of providing fantasy football content. Most of you are reading this from your mobile device right now anyway.
So, we flipped the script. There is no more magazine. Instead, we are keeping all of the rankings, projections, strategy and content in the Fantasy Football Draft Guide fresh online throughout the summer. You are going to get the same great information and in-depth analysis, but there is a zero-percent risk of it going stale because we are updating it every day until the start of the 2016 NFL season.
Here's a sneak peek into what you get in the Fantasy Alarm Fantasy Football Draft Guide.
Auction Draft Strategy Guide
By Ray Flowers
It’s time for the fantasy football community to move on from snake drafts to auctions instead. In this article, I’ll discuss everything you need to know about auction drafts from how to set up an auction league to what strategies you will need to employ in order to have success in one.
What is a fantasy auction? In an auction, you get the chance to "buy" any player you want. Whereas in a snake draft, you’re stuck taking whomever is left when it’s your turn to select a player, an auction allows you the freedom to simply have at it and grab whomever you desire since you can spend your cash anyway you want until you run out of it.
How should I spend my auction budget? There is no 100-percent certain path to victory. That said, I believe there are two main choices people make in auctions: "stars and scrubs," or the balanced approach.
The balanced approach is the strategy I normally use, and the one I would suggest you employ if you are new to auctions. In this setup, you spread your money more evenly throughout your entire roster. You may not have that top-10 player on your team, but you can roster a host of really good players, which won't leave you scrambling to fill out your roster with $1 players no one else wants. If you want to try this approach, I’ll even supply you with a guide how to best do that...

Does Zero-RB Draft Strategy Work?
By Dom Murtha
While I'm new to the “Zero Running Back Strategy,” I can see why many are beginning to turn to it in their fantasy drafts. With the rise of pass-happy NFL offenses and the fantasy-crippling “running back by committee,” finding a consistent running back is much more difficult to do these days.
The prevailing belief is, rather than spending your second, third, or fourth-round picks on “starting” backs who aren’t even close to elite status, wait on the position and take the bevy of elite players who will be available at the other positions because of the public’s infatuation with running backs. After a few mock drafts with this strategy, I have come to the conclusion that it is a strategy that could work with some predictable consistency.
My only qualm with “Zero RB” is its name. I would call it “Running Back Late Strategy” instead because, in reality, you end up taking quite a few backs – only later. When dealing with the later-round misfits, you need quantity to improve your odds off hitting on a couple of them. Ultimately you end up with plenty of running backs, but maybe just zero that the public had their eyes on high in the draft. Identify the undervalued RBs and this strategy will work.
Now, let's put it to the test in an actual mock draft for the Draft Guide...
See how the Zero-RB strategy worked in mock drafts in the Fantasy Alarm Fantasy Football Draft Guide!
Fantasy Football Myths
By Howard Bender
I would like to take a few moments of your day to dispel some of the myths in fantasy football and put you all onto a winning path. Sure, you can stubbornly hold on to certain beliefs and maybe even win a few games, but while you’re doing that, the rest of us are going to happily pass you by in the standings.
I'll explain why the fantasy myths below no longer hold up (or if they ever did) and tackle a few more fallacies inside the Draft Guide, so be sure to get access today!
Fantasy Myths
- You have to draft running backs first
- Running backs are done at age 30
- Third-year wideouts have breakout seasons
- The preseason doesn’t matter
- Strength of schedule is important
- Don’t draft players on bad teams
- Planning ahead is important, especially for the fantasy playoffs
- Avoid players with the same bye week
- The best fantasy team wins
100 Ways to Win Your Fantasy Football League
By Ray Flowers
There are plenty of pieces of information that need to be managed when running a fantasy football team. The full list in the Draft Guide article breaks down 100 simple, straight-forward measures that will help you to a victory in the coming season. Here's a quick look at five Do's and Don'ts for draft day and in-season strategy:
1. Do load up RBs and WRs on draft day.
2. Don’t overestimate the value of an RB "hand-cuff" if he's keeping you from adding a better player.
3. Don’t trust anything the Patriots say, ever.
4. Don't be married to average draft position (ADP) on draft day.
5. Get your friends drunk on draft day. More importantly, don't get drunk on draft day.

Hey - it’s my first time listening. And I don’t know whether you’ll be right on your picks - but what I listen for is an overview of possible plays, make sure I don’t miss anybody. You guys keep it moving and give a great overview. I look forward to more! Thanks! (PS: nobody is right a vast majority of the time but you all give your consensus / different opinions and it’s great)
