Wow classic aq40 release date

Blizzard has confirmed that the long-awaited Ahn’Qiraj update for World of Warcraft Classic will be released on July 28.

“We’re putting the finishing touches on the next patch for WoW Classic. Version 1.13.5 will go live in July,” reads a post from a Blizzard community manager on theWorld of Warcraft forums. “With that patch, we’ll be ready to unlock the content we’ve been testing on the PTR. The Ahn’Qiraj content will unlock with the weekly raid reset on July 28 for all realms in this region. At that time, players can begin the quest chain to craft a Scepter of the Shifting Sands, and players can turn in gathered resources to advance the Ahn’Qiraj war effort. Once both of those activities are completed on a given realm, the gates of Ahn’Qiraj will be available to be opened. We’ll see you there!”

As that post notes, it seems that the July 28 release of the Ahn’Qiraj update will be proceeded by a patch designed to help Blizzard push that update live. While there’s no word on when that patch will hit (outside of that vague July window) it doesn’t seem that WoW Classic players will be able to access any new content on the live version of the game until July 28.

As long-time WoW fans know, though, the nature of this update means that there’s really no guarantee regarding when WoW Classic players will actually be able to participate in the new Ahn’Qiraj raid.

WoW Classic Phase 5 release date: War Effort start time and AQ launch latest

World of Warcraft: Official 2010 cinematic trailer

“Due to the raid requirements in the quest chain leading up to the “Bang A Gong!” quest, the earliest that the gong-ringing can occur in Silithus on highly-motivated realms will be just over a week later.

“Once the gong is rung on a realm, the 10 Hour War begins. Once the 10 hours has elapsed, "Bang a Gong!” can never be turned in anymore, the two Ahn’Qiraj raids will open, and the “Treasures of the Timeless One” quest will become available.

“During the 10 Hour War, world bosses do not only spawn in Silithus. Resonating Crystals that spawn major enemies will appear in Tanaris, Feralas, Thousand Needles, and Barrens.

“This is important to know because we expect there to be an overcrowding issue in Silithus on realms whenever large groups of players all go to Silithus at the same time.

"While the negative effects of overcrowding can’t be eliminated, we’re taking several steps to mitigate the worst outcomes.”

Details on becoming the Scarab Lord can be found below, courtesy of Blizzard:

“Ringing the gong can only be done by players who have completed all of the steps of the Scepter of the Sands quest chain before the end of the 10-hour window.

"In addition to raid requirements, players are able to use the Proxy of Nozdormu to deputize other players to help them amass Silithid Carapace Fragments, so this is likely a guild-wide effort to help a chosen individual complete the quest chain.

“Only the first player on a realm to ring the gong will be announced across the zone in Silithus. On realms that have multiple layers, once the gong is rung on one layer, the 10 Hour War will begin on all layers. All players who complete the questline and turn in “Bang a Gong!” before the 10 hours are up will receive the Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal mount.

“Any player who completes the questline up through “The Might of Kalimdor” will be eligible for “Treasures of the Timeless One,” which rewards an Epic weapon, regardless of whether they were able to complete “Bang a Gong!” in time.”

WoW Classic: Phase 5 Guide, Ahn'Qiraj, T2.5

Updated By Laerezh

Phase 5 of WoW Classic was deployed in-game on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. It includes, most notably, the Shifting Sands War, culminating with the opening of the famous Gates of Ahn'Qiraj and access to The Temple & The Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj. (AQ20 & AQ40)

Two moths after the release of Phase 4 of WoW Classic, Blizzard recently announced Phase 5: The Opening of the Gates of Ahn'Qiraji event and AQ20 and AQ40 are now available on US servers since 29 July 2020!

Ahn'Qiraji War Effort

The Ahn'Qiraji War Effort is a event that, while active, is available to all players on the server. It will remain available as long as Gates of Ahn'Qiraj still closed, with the event leaving the game when once the gates are opened. This is a major event, with most of it taking place in Silithus. The Ahn'Qiraji War Effort can be split into 3 phases:

  • Obtaining the Sceptre of Shifting Sands, reserved for high level guilds.
  • Collecting War Effort materials, available to all players on the server
  • The Six Hour War shortly after the Gates are opened, once the two other preceding quests are compelted and the Scarab Gong has been rung

Once these three major phases have concluded, the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj will open and both The Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ20) and The Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ40) will be available to you, with the formidable C'Thun awaiting you in the latter.

Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj

The Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj, often abbreviated to AQ20, is a 20-man raid that is accessible once the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj have been opened. Originally released in Patch 1.9, The Gates of Ahn'Qiraj, AQ20 is the living core of the Silithid Empire. Crawling with all sorts of insectoid creature, this raid culminates in an encounter with the powerful Ossirian the Unscarred and rewards players with more powerful non-set gear than in Blackwing Lair.

It Ends With C'Thun — Temple of Ahn'Qiraj Raid Guide (AQ40)

The Temple of Ahn'Qiraj is a Raid in World of Warcraft Classic. We'll take you through all you need to know about the dungeon, covering how to enter, the bosses, the loot, and the quests.

Temple of Ahn'Qiraj

The Temple of Ahn'Qiraj is one of the most iconic raids in WoW Classic. Originally released in Patch 1.9: The Gates of Ahn'Qiraj, the temple offers up a doable 40-man raid and provides players with better rewards than in AQ20, as well as a new set: Tier 2.5!

Within these deep, bug-infested, everlasting tunnels, you will discover you final challenge: C'Thun, the redoubtable Old God.

Striker's Garb

Avenger's Battlegear

Garments of the Oracle

Deathdealer's Embrace

Stormcaller's Garb

Doomcaller's Attire

New Loot

Some of the dungeons that are already in the game will see their loot tables improved. Their previous loot will still be accessible, but new items will be dropped by certain bosses.

New Consumables

Alchemist, Cooks, and Enchanters will all receive powerful new recipes and formulas. Phase 5 also adds the popular and oft sought after Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops.

WoW Classic Season of Mastery Design Intentions and Details

By Staff

Blizzard go into the details of the WoW Classic Season of Mastery that in beta right now, talking about their intentions for the new fresh start including PvP, loot, world buffs, challenging content, the content release cycle and more!
Season of Mastery (Source)
We’ve been very pleased by the reception to our WoW Classic Season of Mastery announcement last week, and we’ve seen a great many questions from players about this new version of WoW Classic. With the Beta now underway, we wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about the philosophy around Seasonal WoW Classic. Design Intentions
First, it’s important to explain what the Season of Mastery is, a little of what it isn’t, and our overall thoughts about Seasonal WoW Classic. The main goal for the Season of Mastery is provide a WoW Classic experience that brings about “Faster Progression and More Challenging Content”. This is our core design pillar that speaks to many of the changes we’re testing in the Beta, and you can see this reflected in adjustments such as increased quest XP, a 12-month content release cycle, and the Honor System and certain Battlegrounds being available from the launch of the game.
We’re increasing the difficulty of raid encounters, restoring raid mechanics removed in early iterations of certain encounters, and we’re prohibiting the use of world buffs inside raid instances. Of course, these are just the changes we’ve announced so far, and we’re still reviewing feedback and suggestions from the community. There’s certainly room to include additional adjustments if they’re consistent with this season’s design goals.
While these are significant changes, we want to make it very clear that these adjustments aren’t intended to become a permanent change to all versions of WoW Classic going forward. When the Season of Mastery launches, existing WoW Classic Era realms will remain configured as they are now. Loot and World Buff Details
There have been a lot of discussions about loot, and specifically the rate at which players can get loot from raids, as we don’t currently have plans to increase that. Part of the challenge of Season of Mastery is the speedy arrival of content throughout the year, and this raises the notion that you may not approach every new challenge with the level of preparation you did in WoW Classic. We feel that loot scarcity was an important part of what made original World of Warcraft challenging and hope to recreate that feeling. Of course, we’ll be watching this closely and are open to adjustments here if we identify a need.
The issues raised by world buff play in WoW Classic have been discussed at great length for years now. We really like the Chronoboon Displacer as a solution to the raid log dilemma, but for the Season of Mastery, world buffs in raids are contrary to the “More Challenging Content” part of our core design pillar. There is a truly great feeling when you get fully buffed and then race through raids to try and beat your best clear time, and we’ll continue to look elsewhere for a place to bring that about again.
Please note: the Chronoboon Displacer will be present and will function in Season of Mastery. You won’t lose buffs that are stored in the Chronoboon Displacer when you zone into a raid. You will, however, lose your buffs if you restore them from the Displacer while in a raid instance. Speaking of raids, we’re quite aware of the concerns around the opening of the gates of Ahn Qiraj on a truncated timeframe. We don’t have anything specific planned for that yet, but we do have the ability to accelerate the completion of the War Effort, should the need arise.
The PvP Honor System
Achieving Rank 14 in original World of Warcraft was always meant to be a prestigious accomplishment that few players obtained. We feel that maintaining that level of prestige is important, and we’ve got to consider how it will play out with the Honor system active from the moment Season of Mastery launches. This is especially difficult, considering how powerful the Honor gear is for many classes.
We’ve read many great suggestions from players on how we could improve this system. We’re currently discussing what we could do to fit our goals for Season of Mastery. Please keep your feedback coming!
Looking Forward
Even though we’ve just gotten started with the Beta, many players want to know what might happen after the 12-month schedule is completed. While we don’t have specifics to share now, we’re currently exploring all of our options, especially when it comes to allowing characters to persist in some way when the Season ends. We’ll let you know!

When will WoW Classic Phase 5 start? Be ready to open the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj starting tomorrow

WoW Classic’s massive Phase 5 is now live, which introduces the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj event and all its intended bugs. It’s a big event that a lot of veteran players have wanted to relive for years, and the time has finally come: the war effort to open the gates will start on July 28 with the weekly raid reset.

Phase 5 will kicked off with the release of patch 1.13.5 earlier in July and the race for the raid will launch at the end of the month. The Gates of Ahn’Qiraj event will take a major, server-wide effort to collect resources to open up the gates to the 20- and 40-player raids. But only a handful of players will be able to complete the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest chain to ring the gong and open the gates themselves.

And once the gates are open, the bugs will be out in the loose with a massive world event — or possibly a huge lag-fest, if the vanilla launch is any indication.

Part of the fun of Phase 5 will be watching the progress of each server as they get closer to opening the gates. Surely the big guilds will have a lot of this planned out, but the final parts will be a blast to watch on Twitch. After all, this is the event that a lot of people cite as one of WoW’s defining moments as a tremendous MMO. Given the way the previous phases have worked out, the biggest, most coordinated guilds will probably finish the event in record time compared to the past.

But you’ll find some other changes in Phase 5, too. If you want to dig into the nitty gritty of the loot changes for Phase 5, you can check out Wowhead’s guide. A lot of the regular dungeons will get upgrades, so be ready to look for groups to pick up the dungeon set gear. And if you haven’t quite made it to level 60, I’d say this is an excellent incentive if you want to see a pretty historic moment for  the game.
